What is the required score for IELTS, TOEFL or English Proficiency?

The English language requirements for admission depend on the degree you wish to pursue and the specific university and country requirements, especially if your Visa demands proof of English language proficiency.

For Foundation and Pathway programs, most universities expect a minimum overall score of 4.0 in the IELTS examination or its equivalent in other exams.

Undergraduate programs typically require scores ranging from 4.5 to 6.5 in most universities, with a few exceptions mandating a minimum overall score of 7.0 in IELTS or equivalent.

Postgraduate programs usually require scores between 6.0 to 7.5 overall in IELTS or its equivalent, and some universities may have specific band score requirements. For instance, an overall score of 6.5 with a minimum band score of 5.0 in all four bands (writing, reading, listening, and speaking).

However, there can be exceptions for English-speaking nationalities or students who can demonstrate that they studied in English throughout their high school, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree. This can be provided through a document from their recent institute known as “proof of medium of instruction”.

If there are any English language requirements for your chosen program, you will find them highlighted in the language requirements section during the application process through Drasco.
